What is MoodNood?

MoodNood is a free mood tracking and journaling app that helps you understand your emotional patterns over time. You can write daily journal entries, tag them with your moods, and view insights about your emotional wellbeing through charts and calendars.

Is MoodNood free?

Yes! MoodNood is completely free to use. All features including unlimited notes, mood tracking, and insights are available at no cost. There are no premium tiers or hidden fees.

Do I need an account to use MoodNood?

Yes, you need to create a free account to use MoodNood. This allows us to securely store your notes and moods in the cloud, so you can access them from any device. You can sign up using your email address or through social login providers.

How does mood tracking help mental health?

Mood tracking can help you:

  • Identify patterns in your emotional wellbeing
  • Recognize triggers that affect your mood
  • Track progress over time
  • Communicate more effectively with therapists or healthcare providers
  • Practice mindfulness and self-awareness

Getting Started

How do I track my mood?

Tracking your mood is simple:

  1. Click "Create Note" in the sidebar
  2. Write about your day (optional: add a title)
  3. Select one or more moods that match how you're feeling
  4. Click "Save" to create your note

Your note and mood will be saved with a timestamp, allowing you to track patterns over time.

What are the mood categories?

MoodNood organizes moods into 5 categories:

  • Positive - Happy, grateful, content, peaceful, joyful
  • Energetic - Excited, motivated, enthusiastic, inspired
  • Neutral - Okay, calm, thoughtful, meh
  • Low Energy - Tired, drained, sluggish, exhausted
  • Negative - Sad, anxious, stressed, angry, overwhelmed, lonely

You can select multiple moods for each note to better capture how you're feeling.

Can I edit or delete my notes?

Yes! Click on any note to view it, then use the "Edit" button to modify the content or moods, or "Delete" to permanently remove it. You have full control over your data.

Privacy & Security

Is my data private and secure?

Yes! Your privacy is our top priority. Your journal entries and mood data are:

  • Encrypted during transmission and storage
  • Never shared with third parties
  • Never used for advertising or marketing
  • Only accessible by you when logged in

Who can see my notes?

Only you can see your notes and mood data. MoodNood is a private journaling app - your entries are not visible to other users, and we don't have social features. Your journal is for your eyes only.

Can I export my data?

Data export functionality is coming soon! You'll be able to download all your notes and mood data in a portable format. For now, your data is securely stored in your account.

What happens if I delete my account?

If you delete your account, all your data (notes, moods, and account information) will be permanently removed from our servers. This action cannot be undone, so please make sure to export any data you want to keep before deleting your account.

What insights can I view?

The Insights page provides:

  • Mood Calendar - Visual overview of your moods over time
  • Mood Distribution - See which moods you experience most often
  • Trends - Identify patterns in your emotional wellbeing
  • Quick Stats - Total notes, most common moods, streaks

Can I use MoodNood on multiple devices?

Yes! MoodNood is a web app that works on any device with a browser - desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. Just log in with your account, and all your data will sync automatically.

Is there a mobile app?

Currently, MoodNood is a web app that works great on mobile browsers. You can add it to your home screen for a native app-like experience. Native iOS and Android apps may come in the future!

Can I attach photos to my notes?

Photo attachments are not currently available, but this feature is on our roadmap. For now, MoodNood focuses on text-based journaling and mood tracking.

MoodNood works best on modern browsers including:

I found a bug. How do I report it?

Thanks for helping us improve! Please report bugs or issues through our contact page. Include as much detail as possible, such as what you were doing when the bug occurred and what browser you're using.

How do I change my email or password?

Go to Settings from the sidebar, where you can update your email address, change your password, and manage your account security settings.

Can I request new features?

Absolutely! We love hearing from our users. Send us your feature requests through the contact page. While we can't implement every request, we carefully consider all feedback.

Is MoodNood open source?

MoodNood is not currently open source, but we're considering it for the future. Follow us on social media for updates!
